Pride and Prejudice’s Peak District filming locations

Pride and Prejudice (2026 Netflix) filming locations

The Bennets are back for a new Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and here’s where the show’s stars have been spotted filming around Britain.

With its half-timbered houses and cobbled streets, Rye is a natural period drama star. The East Sussex town is rumoured to be standing in for Meryton and was given a Regency transformation for filming in autumn 2025. Rye has its own literary links – residents and visitors include Henry James and Virginia Woolf – and there are plenty of independent bookshops to peruse. Visiting in September? The Rye Arts Festival is just the ticket for book lovers.

Deal in Kent is another possible Pride and Prejudice filming location, after TV crews were pictured on its seaside streets. Discover its history at 16th-century Deal Castle, built by Henry VIII, and explore a seascape that’s crowned by Deal Pier. A lively pub and restaurant scene brings things bang up to date.

Other reported Pride and Prejudice filming locations include London’s Spitalfields and the Peak District National Park – watch this space…

  • Stanage Edge, Peak District

Stanage Edge, a four-mile gritstone ridge, is well worth the trek. Can you spot “Keira Knightley rock”, the exact ledge where the actor stood in the film?

  • Basildon Park, Berkshire

Basildon steps in for Mr Bingley’s mansion, Netherfield Park, in Pride & Prejudice. Explore the hidden corners of this Palladian-style mansion and 400-acre park – also seen in Bridgerton.

  • Groombridge Place, Kent

Scenes at the Bennet family home, Longbourn, were filmed at this 17th-century property, with its own moat. It’s currently being transformed into THE PIG’s latest hotel offering

  • Stamford, Lincolnshire

Stamford’s Georgian town centre lent itself perfectly to filming Pride & Prejudice, in which it became Meryton. Burghley House is a 10-minute drive away, so why not combine the two on your Austen adventure?

  • Stourhead, Wiltshire

Oh-so-romantic Stourhead is home to the hilltop Temple of Apollo, where Mr Darcy proposes to Elizabeth in the soaking rain. Look out for Stourhead’s Palladian Bridge, which Elizabeth runs across afterwards.

  • Sudbury Hall, Derbyshire

Sudbury steps in for Pemberley’s interiors in the TV series. Now dubbed ‘The Children’s Country House’, the hall is a properly family-friendly affair, with hands-on fun and beautiful gardens for outdoor play.

  • Longnor, Derbyshire

Stroll along the cute cobbles of Longnor and you might recognise it as a filming location from Pride and Prejudice, doubling as the fictional village of Lambton. It’s a great departure point for hikes in the Dove and Manifold valleys.

  • Belton Estate, Lincolnshire

Looking for the real-life location for Rosings Park, Lady Catherine de Bourgh’s home? It’s Belton House in Lincolnshire, with a world-renowned library that would make Jane Austen jealous.
